So far we have not gotten to the end of our first draft, but we are working hard. So far we have some two out of the four scenes we are planning on using for our project. In my opinion, our scenes turned out pretty good. I think they are going to spread a powerful message in the end, but also be a good form of theater. The way that we have been putting the scenes together has definitely been a process. We’ve had to change things around and start with new ideas for something else didn’t work. We still have to sell my other two scenes and put everything together, but I think it will be really good in the end.
This monologue project was very eye opening to me. It helped me realize how much work needs to go into a single scene. This project was quite challenging for me to complete. First and foremost i HATE performing in front of anyone. So having to do most of this process in front of people was quite the learning curve. I had to accept the fact that mistakes will be made, but the people watching are there to help me fix them. Going along with it liking the crowd, it was hard for me to look up and perform at the same time. When we first performed I was constantly looking down trying to avoid eye contact. My main goal was to just get through all the words correctly and for the scene to be over. By the end of this project I was definitely more comfortable performing in front of people. I think the biggest thing i improved on was my blocking. At first i hardly had any blocking and pretty much just read the lines. By the end I feel I did a lot better job at blocking.
